we go.
We were at K&C hospital yesterday because G's cough wasn't getting any better, and if anything, it was getting worse. It developed as a slight cough, into full blown phlegmy cough, and then it turned a few days ago into a hoarse, sharp and 'harsh' (quote from nurse at hospital) cough. He was coughing so badly, he was throwing up his food/milk :(.
I made an appointment at the Dr's surgery yesterday, and saw the same doctor we saw 3.5 weeks ago, and she remembered him. As usual, he was his bouncy smiley self, and so she said he was looking well (I guess when one is used to seeing listless babies, then a bouncing one tends to be viewed as a 'healthy' baby!). But she did think that because his cough was deteriorating, we should get him checked out at the hospital where they might do an x-ray!
It was great that we got to see the Paed at 2pm (our dr's appointment was 11am - go NHS!). She sent us for an x-ray, thought his ears were slightly red, and his throat was slightly red but nothing scary. The x-ray was clear-ish, meaning there was no bacterial infection, although there was white stringy bits in the x-ray (which she said might be due to the viral infection). hm.
So, the conclusion was, we got given some antibiotics which she said will hopefully clear up the atypical bug which she thinks he's caught. I guess it's all down to the fact that he's in nursery and mixing with a whole load of other babies and their infections!! :(
We go back to see her in 2 weeks time, and hopefully, he'll be much better then.
He was also weighed - and he's now 8.49 kg! (18pounds 11 oz). Which puts him between the 25-50th percentile. He's dropped slightly in weight but I guess it's due to his illness!

Edited: to say that on his check on thursday with the HV, he was 8.52kg! yay! every little helps!
